About
This is the second incarnation of Arizona Watch, an Arizona blog focusing (mostly) on Arizona and US politics, economics, and commentary.
Arizona Watch began in 2004 as a collaboration between Jack Benway and Bridget Bettencourt. It was among the first serious Arizona-centric blogs and reached a regular daily readership of about 200. This first incarnation operated into 2007 and had among its highlights being stood up by Don Goldwater for an interview during his Arizona gubernatorial campaign. (That’s right Don, who’s laughing now?) Some posts from this first incarnation are being migrated here under the Archives section, and most are available via The Wayback Machine.
Arizona Watch (2.0?) was relaunched January 31, 2012 by Jack Benway. It will maintain its former free market, libertarian, snarky indignation toward our wise state overlords, and may still include posts about cats.
Jack Benway is a self-employed information technology professional currently based in the Phoenix area. An Arizona resident since 1975, Jack likely requires professional intervention to overcome his obsessions with history, politics, and economics.
